Claire Huangci was born in Rochester, New York in 1990. She commenced her piano studies in the age of seven at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia. From 2003 she studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Phiadelphia with Eleanor Sokoloff and Gary Graffman. Since 2007 Claire Huangci is continuing her music education under Prof. Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover, Germany.
Claire Huangci has received numerous national and international prizes. Amongst others she won the International Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, Germany in 2009 and the National Chopin Piano Competition of the United States in 2010. In the 2011 ARD Music Competition she was awarded the 2nd prize. In 2012 she won the ZF Music Award in Friedrichshafen.
In 2006 Claire Huangci performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Wolfgang Sawalisch. In 2007 she made her first appearances in Europe with solo performances in Munich, Frankfurt, Leipzig and Paris. She also debuted with the China Philharmonic, performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto in Beijing and toured with the Südewestdeutsche Philharmonie in Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Concerts with the Wiener Kammerorchester, the St Petersburg Symphony and other well-known orchestras followed. In 2009 Claire Huangci was participant of the International Klavierfestival Junger Meister at Lake Constance.
