born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1999
Julian Gast was a junior student at the Lübeck Academy of Music and the Rostock University of Music and Theatre under Prof. Jacques Ammon and Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit. After completing his bachelor’s degree with honours, he studied under Prof. Jacques Rouvier at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He gained a great deal of inspiration from Prof. Arie Vardi, Prof. Bernd Goetzke and Lise de la Salle. He has performed at the Elbphilharmonie, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and the Konzerthaus Berlin. In 2019, he won Second Prize at the Tonali Competition in Hamburg and the Christoph Eschenbach Special Prize.
Julian Gast has performed at such venues as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Rudolf-Oetker Halle Bielefeld and the Paderhalle Paderborn. He has worked with major orchestras including the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Philharmonisches Orchester Vorpommern, the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie and the Norddeutsche Philharmonie. He has also made guest appearances at numerous festivals such as the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Rostock Bach Festival, the Gezeiten Festival, the Vielsaitig Festival, the Hitzacker Music Days and the Lüneburg Bach Week. And for many years now, Julian Gast has been performing to great success as a duo with his twin brother, clarinettist Nikolai Gast.
