Amir Tebenikhin, 2006

Amir Tebenikhin, born in Moscow in 1977 and living in Hanover now, started his piano course of studies at the age of six with his father Wladimir Tebenikhin, a student of the legendary pianist Leo Oborin. He continued his education with Janija Aubakirowa and Michail Balabitchev at the Baiseitowa Musik College in Almaty (Kazakhstan). From 1996 until 2003, he studied with Michail Voskressensky at the Tchaikovsky academy of music in Moscow. Since 2004, he has been a student of Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Hanover Music University in Germany.

In 1999, he gained public attention with his first place at the Vianna da Motta competition in Portugal; this event was a door-opener for the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Wigmore Hall in London, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. In the very same year, Amir Tebenikhin made his first CD production with pieces of Brahms, Debussy, and Prokofieff for the Label Naxos. In 2001, another 1st prize followed suit in Le Mee sur Seine, France. In 2003, Amir Tebenikhin was among the prize winners of the famous Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in Brussels; in 2004, he won additional prizes at the international piano competition in Glasgow (Great Britain) and at the 1st international piano competition in Panama-City (Panama). In 2006, Amir Tebenikhin won the 2nd prize and the special prize for the best cooperation with an orchestra at the 1st international Carl Bechstein piano competition. In June 2006, Amir won the 1st prize of the ZF-Music Award in Friedrichshafen and in October 2007, the first prize of the 3rd Anton Rubinstein piano competition in Dresden.

Tebenikhin appeared in public at renowned festivals, in Portugal (Sintra, Madeira), France (Midem), Germany (Bechstein concert series, The Next Generation II Festival, Winners & Masters, Gasteig Munich), Belgium (Festival de Wallonia, Alden Biesen, Concerts de Midi, Pianotune), Poland (Chopin Festival in Antonin), Czech Republic (Ambassadors’ Concert Series), and Russia (Richter Yamaha Festival). Before that, he gave concerts in numerous countries outside Europe, in Brazil, Japan, Central Asia, and in the USA; he played with many international orchestras, i.a. with the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Gulbenkian Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Virtuoses, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Südwestdeutschen Philharmonie Konstanz, the Macedonian Philharmonics, the Sendai Symphony Orchestra, and the Kazakh State Symphony Orchestra.
